Shabbat – Day Of Rest
What is Shabbat? – Day of Rest
Shabbat is the Jewish day of rest and is observed from Friday evening until Saturday evening. It is considered one of the most important and sacred observances in Judaism. Shabbat begins at sundown on Friday and ends at nightfall on Saturday.
Traditional Shabbat observance involves several rituals and customs. These may include lighting candles to welcome the Sabbath, reciting blessings over wine and bread, attending synagogue services, and refraining from activities such as cooking, lighting fires, using electronic devices, and engaging in work activities.
Shabbat provides an opportunity for Jewish individuals and families to disconnect from the business of everyday life and focus on spiritual rejuvenation and personal connection.
